Do you love drawing fashion but have always been intimidated when trying to render sparkly jewels?
Maybe you've tried capturing jewel facets before but are having a hard time making them look dimensional and realistic...
Welcome to Fashion Illustration : How to Render Jewels! If you’ve already had some experience drawing fashion with artist's markers and are looking to take your jewel rendering skills to the next level, this is the perfect place to begin!
This class was designed as an add on to my existing Fashion Illustration with Marker Rendering for Beginners course, but even if you haven't taken my foundations class yet, you can still learn a lot and level up your marker skills!
In this class we’ll go over our materials and basic marker rendering techniques used throughout the lessons in case you need a refresher or are learning for the first time. I’ll review the included reference guide and we’ll complete the basic jewel drawing worksheet together.
From there, I’ll lead you through how I render various jewel shapes, including a bonus pearl demo, and the best way to illustrate different types of chain. We’ll then combine everything we’ve learned and create two fully realized jewelry illustrations from start to finish. I’ll break down the components of each project so you can follow along step by step and build the skills needed to create a dynamic finished illustration.
In the end, you’ll have two completed jewel illustrations along with the confidence to keep practicing and working towards developing your own illustration style!
Gain instant access to 3+ hours of video content in addition to 2 drawing worksheets and a jewel drawing reference guide
Hello! My name is Joanna and I’m a fulltime freelance illustrator and designer living in New York City. I have a passion for illustrating and creating beautiful things, both of which I pursued in college, earning a degree in Studio Art from Washington College and a fashion design degree from Parsons School of Design.
After working for five years as a designer in the fashion industry, I decided to take the leap in January of 2015 and pursue a career as a freelance illustrator. Over the past four years, I've built a business selling my illustrations as art prints, stationery & gifts and have collaborated with brands big and small on commissioned illustration projects.
I love sharing my illustration process on Instagram and YouTube and after receiving many emails and questions about how I create my drawings from start to finish, I decided to create a comprehensive class packed to the brim with all of my favorite fashion illustration tips and tricks that I've learned over the years!
